PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide training, supervision, and personal care for Individuals with developmental disabilities who reside in Newhope residential homes. Provide active treatment which is directed toward each individual’s abilities in an effort to support them in reaching their maximum level of independence. Support staff are required to provide activities that will teach new skills as well as prevent regression of skills.
In addition to DSP duties, may be responsible to perform bus aid duties including loading wheelchairs on and off the bus, safely and correctly strapping wheelchairs into the bus, and riding on the bus on routes to assist the vehicle operator.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED. Must be physically able to lift 50 lbs., bend, stoop, position, and transfer.
Must possess and maintain valid Ohio Driver's License and be insurable. (If applicable)
Full-time and part-time employees must be available to work additional hours when necessary.
Must complete Defensive Driving Course (as applicable), and On-The-Road Training (as applicable).
EXPERIENCE: 3 to 6 months experience in DD or related field preferred.
CERTIFICATION: As assigned, must successfully complete Delegated Nursing Course and obtain/maintain delegated nursing certification. Must maintain First Aid and CPR certification on an on-going basis. TB testing will be required annually.
