PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Speech Therapist evaluates/assess individuals to assist the team in determination of eligibility/needs and if applicable provide direct or consultative supports for individuals enrolled in a Richland CBDD programs. Works in partnership with assigned Richland Newhope programs (Early Intervention/Service Support Administration and/or Residential) as a support to the individuals served.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology; prefer experience with individuals with developmental disability; experience with augmentative communication systems desirable. Valid Ohio Driver’s license; must be able to transport self.  Must be able to maintain insurability as required by Board policy. Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs.

 CERTIFICATION:  Licensed by the Ohio State Board of Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology; ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence or CFY eligible; Completion of First Aid and CPR certification within probationary period; and maintain certification as scheduled by Newhope.  May be required to obtain course work at own expense for initial certification as well as renewals. TB testing maybe required.

 

NATURE OF WORK:

  1. Evaluation/Assessments

            Conducts evaluations/assessments in order to assure the team has complete information to assist the team/individual in knowing current, functional levels, progress, and identify needs to assist the team/individual in developing or updating the IFSP/OSP or therapy request.  

 

  1. Service Delivery

            Based on results of team meeting may provide direct, joint (EI only) or consultative services.  Completes assigned therapy requests. Coordinates access of adaptive equipment, augmentative communication systems, fabricates, modifies, and/or orders adaptive equipment.    Assist team in determining resources to assist when requests for needed equipment.

 

  1. Team relationship and professionalism

            Maintains a nurturing relationships with agency employees, families, individuals and community members.  Creates an atmosphere of open communication to solve problems and address questions.  Utilizes person-centered practices to promote a strong support for families/individual and their teams.  Participates in team meetings to discuss the IFSP/OSP and therapy requests. 

 

  1. Records/Reporting:

            Maintain individual records and reports in a timely and accurate manner including but not limited to the evaluation/assessment, service delivery documentation, MUIs using the agency approved documentation system to ensure documentation, reports need local, state and federal regulatory standards.  

 

  1. Training and development:

            Attends conferences, seminars, workshops and other related professional development.  Reads current literature to enhance professional knowledge and skills; shares with peers. Maintains skills to utilize current technology to assist in delivery of services.

 

  1. Supervision

            May supervise practicum and interim students placed in program.  

 

  1. Performs other duties as required.
