Training

There is a wealth of web-based training opportunities free-of-cost on the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) website. Additionally, the Richland County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Richland Newhope) offers various provider trainings throughout the year relating to areas required for certification and/or areas to enhance skills and understanding in the form of group or individual trainings.  These may include medication administration, Person-Centered Thinking & Planning, “Provider 101,” rule changes, documentation requirements, provider forums, claim submission, Trauma-Informed Care, First Aid/CPR, MUI/Rights, Medicaid Service System,  etc.  Providers should check the Richland Newhope website frequently for updates.

If you are interested in accessing the Richland County Board of DD’s most recent annual MUI and Rights training, please contact Provider Recruiter/Development Coordinator Mary Dalbey at mdalbey@rnewhope.org for more information.  She will e-mail the handouts, slides, and links to watch the videos online.  There are also DVDs available at our Service & Support Administration (SSA) building, 220 Home Ave., that can be checked out and viewed either at the SSA building or at your home.  In order to receive a certificate for the training, you must watch the videos, take (and pass) a short quiz, and then return the completed quiz in to Mary Dalbey.  At that time you will be asked to sign a form attesting that you watched the videos and understand the information.  Once this is completed, will you will be issued your certificate of training.  MUI training is required every calendar year for all providers and county board staff.

Upcoming NEON TRAININGS scheduled for 2021: Just click on the link for the class you need, then fill out the form entirely, then click SUBMIT.  Once you have done that, you will be registered for your class, unless it is full.  If it is full, you will need to register for another session.  If there are any questions or problems with the online registration process, please contact Mary Dalbey at mdalbey@rnewhope.org or at 419-774-4418. 
 
CPR/FA (Quarterly, blended learning) - March 25 (8:30 am-9:15 am, or 9:30 am-10:15 am, or 10:30 am-11:15 am).
More training times for First Aid/CPR throughout each day may be added as needed.  If you are unable to register for the class due to it being full, contact Mary Dalbey at mdalbey@rnewhope.org.
For ALL Med Cert Classes, please complete the Application for Personnel to Attend the DODD Medication Administration (MA) Certification Course (MAIS Application), and present the completed application to the RN Trainer at the time of your class.
 
Initial Med Cert 1 (14-hour class) - 8:30 am to 4:30 pm BOTH days:  (March 18, 19), or (May 20, 21), or (July 15, 16), or (Sept 16, 17), or (Nov 18, 19).
 
Initial Med Cert 2 (G/J Tube) - 8:00 am to 12:00 pm March 12, or May 14, or July 9, or Sept 10, or Nov 12.
 
Initial Med Cert 3 (Insulin) - 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm March 12, or May 14, or July 9, or Sept 10, or Nov 12.
 
Renewal Med Cert 1 (2 sessions of 9 each class) - 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, or 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm April 8, or June 10, or Aug 12, or Oct 7, or Dec 10.
