Independent Providers

If you are an independent provider, you are hired by and provide services/supports for people who have developmental disabilities. You are considered self-employed but must follow very specific certification timelines, training requirements, and criteria in order to obtain and maintain certification through the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.  These requirements are outlined in the rules and laws of the Ohio Revised Code.

If you or your agency have already been certified by The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) to provide waiver or non-waiver funded services and you are requesting to be added to the Richland County Board of Developmental Disabilities (RCBDD) database of authorized providers, please see below for instructions.

The RCBDD requests that all DODD Certified Providers intending to serve in Richland County supply the Department of Provider Relations with the documentation listed below:

Why is RCBDD collecting this information?

This information is necessary for adding Agency and Independent Providers to our database of authorized providers (the RCBDD Provider Pool).  Please follow the instructions on the Provider Contact Data Collection Sheet for proper submission to the RCBDD Department of Provider Relations.

Why must I forward my Certification information to RCBDD?

The RCBDD database entry is required for service authorizations to be electronically processed for reimbursement for any DODD waiver and/or DODD non-waiver services.  The Ohio DODD system is not directly connected to each county’s system, therefore certified providers must contact each county in which they intend to serve.

In addition, RCBDD Service Coordination is required to confirm provider selection by the individual served/their guardian, via a signed authorization, before DODD will accept provider billing for reimbursement.

We have also developed step-by-step instructions for further assistance.
